A woodland activity everybody loves to get involved with
Kids of all ages love building a den in the woods - can you all build one big enough to fit everyone inside?
Den building is a chance to come together and make something that feels special whatever age you are. Some keep it simple while others start rolling in the logs to make the furniture.
Don't know how to build one ... then our team will be happy to help.

No matches and fire lighters required here
Lighting a campfire with a flint and steel is so satisfying. Fire lighting is a hands on activity that gets everyone engaged, because there's no marshmallows without a cracking fire to toast them on. It also teaches patience and perseverance - some days the fire just doesnt want to take - but spark by spark we always get there in the end.
Our team will get everyonefire up to build a bushcraft style campfire, using with twigs and branches foraged by little wild legs running around the wood.

Add an extra bit of adventure to your experience
If you your group has young people aged 8 and over add axe throwing to your adventure.
At Fat Squirrel Outdoor we throw axes at rustic targets using smaller stainless throwing axes, rather the larger wood chopping axes, making it easier for more people to be able to join in.
All sessions are fully hosted from start to finish by a member of the Fat Squirrel Outdoor team. Our team will advise on how to throw and then lead a number of games and challenges that will keep everyone engaged.
Please email hello@fatsquirreloutdoor.co.uk if you have a specific question.
The minimum booking is for 6 child guests with at least 2 accompanying adults. You can add extra guests up to a total of 15 children (under 18) and 10 accompanying adults. Please include any siblings your overall guest count. There are two options for siblings they can have food and activities or just food. If siblings are booked for food only and they take part in activities we reserve the right to charge for them on the day.
Our children's campfire parties start at 11am or 2.30pm at the weekends and last 2 hours.
We suggest party hosts arrive 10 minutes earlier than their guests.
Parties start with a quick safety briefing and include 2 activities lasting around 40 minutes each.
After the activities all guests return to the shelter to eat their hot dogs around a fire, cooked by a member of the Fat Squirrel Outdoor team. Once everyone has eaten we can serve the cake, then we end toasting marshmallow to make s'mores.
The parties are hosted by members of the Fat Squirrel Outdoor team who are all DBS checked and have experience working with kids. We are an SEND friendly team.
We operate in a number of sites across the Cotswolds.
You can book a family experience at our Notgrove site, between Cheltenham and Bourton on the water online. You can also request a a session at Westwell, near Burford.
You shouldn't need to bring anything but the guests - but torches are a good idea for winter experiences.
We provide cups, serviettes, mess tins and have a knife to cut the birthday cake. We also provide a flare candle for your cake that creates a big sparkle, but it can't be blown out.
All our experiences are private campfires for your group, there is no café which is why our experiences include food. Please note that we bring the food to site to order, so additional guests must be booked in advance and we can only cater for allergies and dietary preferences with advance notice.
We supply water for the children to drink, tea and coffee for the adults.
is included. Please book a ticket for everyone attending.
We need to know any dietary requirements or allergies in advance, as food is taken into the wood to order. We run a nut and sesame free menu but we cannot guarantee sources, so there may be traces. We also offer gluten free options but not from a gluten free kitchen environment. Please email us at hello@fatsquirreloutdoor.co.uk
Birthday banners and bunting are fine to bring but please don't bring balloons because they usually pop or float off and are then dangerous for the animals living in the wood.
We have a camping toilets on site with hand wash.
There is no waste collection so it would be amazing if you could take nappies and sanitary waste home - we have bags you can use.
The woodland is relatively flat, but it in places its uneven with hidden tree stumps and branches. Please be conscious of this and wear sturdy shoes all year around. We have tents and structures secured by ropes and pegs at ground level, so please watch out for the guy ropes and do not trip. The trees are not suitable for climbing, please stay on the ground.
It might be a party - but often old clothes are better in the wood. It is wise to bring a waterproof coat all year round and we recommend sturdy boots or shoes. It is a good idea to keep legs covered to avoid bites and stings. In the winter layer up with lots of tops, two pairs of socks, a hat and gloves.
As an outdoor location we do operate all year. We have to close if its too windy or if there is an amber weather warning prohibiting travel. Should we need to cancel your event for the weather we will offer an alternative date.
