Outdoor parties in the woods

The minimum booking is for 6 child guests with at least 2 accompanying adults. You can add extra guests up to a total of 15 children (under 18) and 10 accompanying adults. Please include any siblings your overall guest count. There are two options for siblings they can have food and activities or just food. If siblings are booked for food only and they take part in activities we reserve the right to charge for them on the day. 

Our children's campfire parties start at 11am or 2.30pm at the weekends and last 2 hours.

We suggest party hosts arrive 15 minutes earlier than their guests.   

Your group will be allocated a woodland shelter as a base with a campfire. The campfire will be lit unless fire lighting is selected as an activity.  The shelters will keep guests dry in the event of wet weather. 

Parties start with a quick safety briefing and include 2 activities lasting around 40 minutes each.

After the activities all guests return to the shelter to eat their hot dogs around a fire, cooked by a member of the Fat Squirrel Outdoor team. Once everyone has eaten we can serve the cake, then we end toasting marshmallow to make s'mores. 

The parties are hosted by members of the Fat Squirrel Outdoor team who are all DBS checked and have experience working with kids.

We are based in woodlands and from Autumn 2023 we will be in more than one location. Please check the location pages for details on how to find us. 

You shouldn't need to bring anything but the guests and may be some presents - but torches are a good idea for winter parties. We provide cups, serviettes, mess tins and have a knife to cut the cake. We can also provide a flare candle for your cake that creates a big sparkle, but it can't be blown out.      

All our parties and private campfires include a real sausage or vegan hot dog for each booked guest and marshmallow s'mores. Please note we bring food to the wood to order, so additional guests must be booked in advance.   

Squash or water for children's parties is included. Please book a ticket for any adults and siblings requiring a drink. 

We need to know any dietary requirements or allergies in advance, as food is taken into the wood to order. We run a nut and sesame free menu but we cannot guarantee sources, so there may be traces. Birthday banners and bunting are fine to bring but please don't bring balloons because they usually pop or float off and are then dangerous for the animals living in the wood. 

We have a modern compost toilet and urinals on site but very limited waste collection so it would be amazing if you could take nappies and sanitary waste home - we have bags you can use. There are also handwash stations with foot pumped cold water.    

The woodland is relatively flat, but it in places its uneven with hidden tree stumps and branches. Please be conscious of this and wear sturdy shoes all year around. We have tents and structures secured by ropes and pegs at ground level, so please watch out for the guy ropes and do not trip. The trees are not suitable for climbing, please stay on the ground. 

It might be a party - but often old clothes are better in the wood. It is wise to bring a waterproof coat all year round and we recommend sturdy boots or shoes. It is a good idea to keep legs covered to avoid bites and stings. In the winter layer up with lots of tops, two pairs of socks, a hat and gloves.  

As an outdoor location we do operate all year. We have to close if its too windy or if there is an amber weather warning prohibiting travel. Should we need to cancel your event for the weather we will offer an alternative date.
