You are never too old for some woodland fun. We also host celebrations for hen and stag dos, those significant and even the insignificant birthdays.
Our celebrations usually start with axe throwing - because there's nothing like hurling a few axes to get a party started.
Campfires have been drawing people of all ages together for thousands of years. Whether you are celebrating a landmark birthday, hosting a hen or stag do or just getting family and friends together for a meetup, time in the woods around a campfire is an amazing way to relax and have fun together.
The combination of being in a woodland and around a campfire under a rustic shelter has a magical feel. Spend some time with special people enjoying a real meat sausage hot dog and of course making gooey marshmallow s'mores.
All willing warriors over 8 years old can take part in the axe throwing contest. Our fun game includes some trial throws and gives everyone a chance of winning.
We are working hard to make Fat Squirrel Outdoor a sustainable off-grid experience. We don't have any electricity and we bring food and water into the wood everyday. Sometimes things take a little longer than usual - sit back, relax and enjoy a slower pace.
Well behaved dogs are very welcome at Fat Squirrel Outdoor. Please keep on a lead and in control of an adult - and pick up after them!
We have dog water bowls and treats. It would be great if you could take your poo bags away too.
Please email hello@fatsquirreloutdoor.co.uk if you have a specific question.

A campfire evening starts around the campfire with some fire cooked popcorn. Once everyone has arrived and settled everyone aged 8 and over can take part in an axe throwing challenge. Our axes are small throwing axes that most people will be able to throw. Taking part is optional - but our contest is designed to give everyone a chance of winning - not just the hidden family viking warrior! If you have a number of younger guests we can run a soft archery session as well. After axe throwing everyone gathers back around the fire for hot dogs and s'mores.
Food and a hot drink is included, there is an optional bar.
From late 2023 Fat Squirrel Outdoor will be operating in multiple locations. Please check carefully which location you have booked for. The best way to locate our woodland locations is through what3words. This is a website and app that gives global locations down to a specific 3x3m area.

For kids parties you don't need to bring anything but your guests. Some families bring their own cake, or you can order a cake from us. We provide cups, serviettes and mess tins.
For evening campfires blankets and torches are a good idea. We have wooden benches so some guests bring their own deck chairs.
All our parties and evening campfires include a real sausage or vegan hot dog for each booked guest and marshmallow s'mores. We sell tea, coffee, hot chocolate and canned soft drinks as extra and also have an optional bar.
We need to know any dietary requirements or allergies in advance, as food is taken into the wood to order. We run a nut and sesame free menu but we cannot guarantee sources, so there may be traces. We also offer gluten free options but not from a gluten free kitchen environment. Please email us at hello@fatsquirreloutdoor.co.uk
Banners and bunting are fine to bring but please don't bring balloons because they usually pop or float off and are then dangerous for the animals living in the wood.
We have a modern compost toilet and urinals on site but very limited waste collection so it would be amazing if you could take nappies and sanitary waste home - we have bags you can use. There are also handwash stations with foot pumped cold water.
We have endeavoured to make our woodlands as accessible as possible for buggies and wheelchairs, but there are hidden tree stumps and branches and some locations do not have a smooth path - best to check with us first hello@fatsquirreloutdoor.co.uk . Please be conscious of this and wear sturdy shoes all year around. We have tents and structures secured by ropes and pegs at ground level, so please watch out for the guy ropes and do not trip. Lastly the trees are not suitable for climbing, please stay on the ground.
It is usually cooler in the wood during the summer - so its a good idea to bring a jacket even on hot days. We do have shelters that will keep you dry in the rain, but it is wise to bring a waterproof coat. We recommend sturdy boots or shoes all year around and we suggest that legs stay covered to avoid bites and stings. In the winter layer up with lots of tops, warm trousers, two pairs of socks, a coat, hat and gloves.
As an outdoor location we do operate all year around. We will only close if its too windy or if there is an amber weather warning prohibiting travel. Should we need to cancel your event we will offer an alternative date.
